Hello everyone and welcome to the candidate forum on Business and the Economy. I'm Laura Knoy, host of New Hampshire Public Radio's "The Exchange". We're coming to you from studio D in our Concord Studios. For the next hour, we'll hear candidates for the Second Congressional District discuss some of the most challenging economic issues of our time. We will press them to talk about what they would do as members of congress-and refrain from spending valuable time attacking each other. And now, let me introduce our candidates. They are former Republican Congressman Charles Bass and Democrat Ann McLane Kuster. Our panelist are Phil Vaughn from New Hampshire Public Television, and Denis Paiste from the New Hampshire Union Leader. During the first half of our forum, the panelists will ask questions. Then we'll move on to a lightening round where candidates will provide brief and decisve responses to a series of topics. Then I'll take over and moderate a two-way discussion between the candidates. Some of these quesitons came from our readers, listeners, and viewers. We tossed a coin earlier to see who would recieve the first question, and that goes to Ann McLane Kuster. We begine with Ms. Kuster.
